Earnest Press accepts submissions exclusively through established literary agents. If you represent an author whose work belongs on our list, we would be honoured to read it.
Agented submissions only
Earnest Press does not accept unsolicited or unagented manuscripts. Work must be submitted by a literary agent representing the author. Direct submissions from authors are not read.
What we publish
Literary and experimental fiction, essay collections, and poetry of the first rank. We acquire a small, deliberate list each year.
What to send
An agent cover letter, a one-page synopsis, the author's biography and publication history, and the first three chapters or fifteen poems as a single PDF.
Our response
Every agented submission is read by an acquiring editor and weighed by the editorial board. We aim to respond within sixteen weeks. Exclusive submissions are appreciated but not required.
Collaboration & rights
We are happy to collaborate with other publishers on distribution and acquisition of rights. We want to ensure the author is widely heard — and will work with partners worldwide to extend the reach of every title we publish.
